4 tips to set you up for a successful new year
As we approach Christmas, our thoughts often turn to how the year has gone both personally and in our career. Here at Juniper, we take the opportunity to reflect and to think about how we can progress in the year ahead. Emily shares four top tips on how to set yourself up for a successful new year:
Reflect on the past 12 months:
The great thing about the end of the year is that it’s the perfect time to reflect on the past 12 months. Just as we reflect on our personal achievements and goals, we should be doing the same for our careers. Reflection is a great exercise to help determine our targets for the future year, allowing us to have a clear vision of how we want the year to go.
Finish all small tasks:
We all have a list of small tasks that we put off doing, especially when bigger priorities get in the way. A great way to start the new year with a clean slate is by finishing up all those minor tasks that we have been putting off.
Make a plan:
The best way to start a new year is with a plan. Once we’ve had time to reflect on the past 12 months, it is time to start putting a plan in to action. It doesn’t have to be extensive as things always change, but it is good to set a broad set of goals to work towards.
Take time for yourself:
It can be very easy to bring home the stresses of work and this can impact on our time for relaxing and un-winding.
Why not use the Christmas holidays to focus on yourself and what makes you happy? Having time to rest means you can return to work with a clear head and focus.
Here’s to a happy and successful 2019!
