Unleashing success at The Juniper Co.: engaging our team

At The Juniper Co., we believe that the key to our success lies in the strength and togetherness of our team. Inspired by our April Juniper snippet of inspiration, "engage your team, unleash success," I have been reflecting on how we can create an environment where everyone feels valued, heard, and empowered. By fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere, we help our employees reach their full potential and drive our collective success.

1. Regular touch points: the backbone of communication
Regular meetings are essential for keeping everyone on the same page. At Juniper, we hold short team check-ins three times a week to discuss ongoing projects, address challenges, and celebrate our successes. These meetings provide a platform for open communication, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard and valued.

2. Understanding each other: the power of personal profiling
Understanding the diverse personalities within a team is crucial for effective collaboration. We utilise the DISC personality profiling assessment tool to give Juniper team members insights into each other’s communication style, strengths, and areas for growth. This knowledge helps us tailor our interactions and work more harmoniously together. Find out more about DISC profiling here.

3. Our ways of working: supporting each other’s needs
I encourage everyone to recognise the importance of knowing how each team member prefers to work, especially during high-pressure situations. I make it a priority for everyone to be aware of each other's needs and preferences. By doing so, we can provide the right support and create a more harmonious work environment. This awareness helps us to be more flexible and accommodating, ensuring that everyone can perform at their best, even during challenging times.

4. Time together away from our desks: building stronger connections
Building strong relationships is vital for a cohesive team. At Juniper, we organise regular lunches in the office, at least every four to six weeks, where we can spend some time together, enjoy some good food (very important to us here in the Juniper team!) and connect on a personal level. These moments away from our desks allow us to get to know each other better and strengthen our bonds.

5. Celebrating little wins: sharing highlights and successes
I believe in the power of celebrating our successes together as a team. I often ask my team to share highlights or something they are proud of from the past week in our team catch ups. Whether it's a completed project, positive client feedback, or a personal achievement, these moments of recognition boost morale and motivate everyone to keep striving for excellence.

For me, engaging a team is not just a strategy; it’s a core value. By fostering open communication, understanding each other’s strengths, promoting flexibility, building strong connections, and investing in continuous learning, we create an environment where individuals can unleash their potential and contribute fully to the team’s success.
