Through our work with Historic Royal Palaces, delegates learn about organisation-specific thresholds and procurement processes (Procurement Processes and Thresholds), strengthening their competence in managing supplier and partner performance (Supplier Relationship Management) and gaining confidence in planning and executing negotiations at all levels (Negotiation Skills).
More about the brief
These hands-on, interactive workshops give delegates the tools they need to navigate procurement processes with confidence and objectivity. Equipped with tailored quotation templates and steps for drawing detailed specifications, attendees learn how to evaluate quotes effectively. Through practical exercises, they hone their questioning skills, enabling them to make informed comparisons, confidently select suitable suppliers, and then manage their performance.
We were tasked with creating a series of interactive, practical learning workshops to equip Historic Royal Palaces’ staff with procurement, supplier relationship management, and negotiation skills.
Working together with the Historic Royal Palaces Procurement team to create immersive learning, we focus on developing employees’ understanding and competence in procuring goods and services, managing supplier and partner relationships, and negotiating win-win outcomes.
Our approach
In collaboration with subject-matter experts from Historic Royal Palaces Procurement department, we designed three workshops to work both independently and as a series, including:
Procurement Processes and Thresholds
Designed to raise awareness of procurement processes and why they are in place, as well as the time required for each. This workshop gives delegates the skills and knowledge to:
- Determine which process to follow and seek advice or input from the Procurement department when appropriate
- Run their own procurement process independently
Supplier Relationship Management
Is aimed at anyone responsible for managing contracts and supplier relationships. The workshop includes:
- Identifying and following a best practice supplier relationship management process
- Developing supplier relationships through an increased awareness of supplier relationship management competencies and trust-building skills
- Utilising a defined method (DESC) for giving suppliers and partners feedback on their performance
Negotiation Skills
Provides participants with practical negotiation skills and enables them to:
- Understand the concept of negotiation and how it works in practice
- Identify their own personality style and how it could influence how they approach negotiations
- Try out their negotiating skills in a safe environment

The team at Juniper ‘get’ HRP: our people, our brand, our objectives and our challenges. That is why we asked them to help us remodel our Contract Thresholds, Negotiation and Management programme into three focused workshops. We have seen a sharp increase in participants’ confidence and competence. Each session is designed to be informative, interactive and practical, resulting in more consistent procurement across our organisation.
