OUR GROWTH TIMELINE

The moment inspiration took root
In 1992, Nicki hiked with her sister Katrina, along the Bright Angel Trail on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, down to the bottom and up to the South Rim in three days and 100-degree heat. By the time they got to the end, the idea of the Juniper Company had been formed.
Drawing on years of leading teams in publishing, production and design agencies, Nicki found an opportunity to blend her experience of delivering marketing and communications campaigns for blue-chip companies with her passion for learning and development. Her focus has always been on delivering impactful, people-centred solutions.
Nicki’s vision then, as now, is to help individuals, teams and organisations be the best they can be.

The Juniper Co. was born
On 1 March 2002, The Juniper Company was officially founded.
We began by writing and delivering a leadership programme for our first client, KPMG in London. We were then invited to deliver the same programme for KPMG International in Amsterdam, a city that we grew to love, visiting every month for nearly two years.

2003 - 2007: Shaping learning experiences across the charity and visitor attraction sectors
Our learning programmes expanded into the charity sector, working with organisations such as Sue Ryder and the Charities Aid Foundation, as well as visitor attractions, including Historic Royal Palaces at Hampton Court and the Tower of London.
We continue to partner with Historic Royal Palaces to deliver tailored courses in procurement, supplier relationship management, and negotiation skills.

2005 - 2009: Guiding teams through successful change and transformation
We were proud to lead the communications workstream on a major IT transformation programme for KPMG Europe, supporting 30,000 staff as they transitioned to a new finance and HR system.
We went on to shape the engagement and communications programme for KPMG’s large-scale London office move, helping 3,000 people transition smoothly from five offices into two – moving not only location but also from offices to open-plan, from paper to paperless, and from individual desks to hot-desks.

Juniper begins sponsoring event rider Ginny Howe
For over 15 years, The Juniper Co. has proudly sponsored Ginny Howe, an accomplished British event rider competing at the highest level.
Our connection began with a chance meeting over a horse Nicki hoped Ginny would compete on, and it quickly became clear that Ginny embodies the qualities we value most: integrity, fresh thinking, positive energy, authenticity and a collaborative spirit. Watching her career flourish has been a joy and supporting her remains a natural fit. Ginny’s commitment, courage and love for eventing mirror the spirit we bring to our work.
In 2010, Nicki also became a Non-executive Director of the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) in equestrian sports administration, working with the BEF and its member organisations for over six years.

Juniper’s identity and direction continues to evolve
On 8 June 2012, Juniper became The Juniper Co.
Adding “Co.” strengthened our brand identity and captured the collaborative spirit at the heart of how we work. It also echoes Nicki’s long-held philosophy of growing Juniper and building a team around shared purpose.
Alongside this, as a Non-executive Director at the BEF, Nicki oversaw the equestrian marketing campaigns for the London 2012 and Rio 2016 Olympics. A standout moment was the success of the #dancinghorses social media campaign, which grew Team GBR’s equestrian following from 10,000 to 400,000 in the lead-up to London 2012.

Introduction to automotive!
In 2015, the Juniper team was introduced to the automotive sector when Harwoods approached us to help with their strategy.
We have remained long-term business friends – we continued to support their strategic planning, developed and delivered their Leadership Programme in 2021 (virtually, as we were in the midst of the pandemic), and coached members of the leadership team for several years.
Nicki’s ongoing passion for Land Rovers might not be a coincidence!

2016 - 2018: Supporting the ICC with a focused Management Fundamentals programme
We were engaged to design and deliver a bespoke leadership intervention for senior lawyers in the Prosecution Division of the Office of the Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC). The purpose of the intervention was to develop clear leadership objectives and continuously improve their leadership and management practices.
In tandem, we were asked to design, facilitate, and project-manage two iterations of a Management Fundamentals Programme (MFP) for 36 middle managers. This series of experiential workshops focused on participants’ personal and leadership development, such as defining their personal brand and setting goals aligned to their stakeholders’ needs and personality styles, an essential foundation for effective leadership. They also explored the meaning and key qualities of leadership and identified the unique challenges of leading in their specific environment.

Our love of networking
Over the years, the Juniper team has enjoyed hosting networking events at Somerset House in London, with topical themes such as virtual working (in 2014, before it was a ‘thing’), Boss versus Leader, and managing conflict, using forum theatre and the help of our actor colleagues to explore different approaches.
Blenheim International Horse Trials has been a firm favourite to share our passion for all things equestrian, too. These occasions give us the chance to reconnect with clients and friends, while also building new relationships and expanding our community.

2020 – 2022: The pandemic years: Juniper goes virtual
When the pandemic began, our agility was tested. With many years of experience delivering work for global clients, we quickly shifted to remote working.
During lockdown, two longstanding clients – the PwC EMEA Account Managers Development Programme team and Harwoods, which needed a Leadership Programme – approached us to help them transition from face-to-face to virtual delivery. Both worked very well and continue to inform the development of our blended services.
Since then, we’ve supported clients across multiple sectors – including Duchy of Cornwall, Harwoods, Oil Spill Response Limited (OSRL), Propertymark, and PwC – helping them bring their strategy and values, and account management programmes to life, through a range of virtual and face-to-face sessions.

2024 – 2025: The Juniper team continues to grow
Nicki’s ambition to grow continues. In 2024, we introduced a new team structure with dedicated Account Managers supporting each client, working alongside Programme Coordinators to strengthen and enhance the service we provide.
We also added a full-time Marketing role to deepen our referral marketing. This enhanced team supports both existing clients and new partnerships, such as PSAA and Propertymark, growing our client base while continuing to serve our long-standing relationships.
